Clean Ladder (power, squat or split) in 12 minutes. Each Athlete will get credit for their 6 heaviest successful lifts. These are 1 rep cleans.
Rather than having 15-20 bars on the floor with preset weights, athletes will be able to choose the weight range they would like to use. Each team will be provided two barbells and ample weight. teammates may need to share weight.
The ladder that is scored will be the 6 heaviest successful lifts performed by each athlete. Since this is a ladder, each lift must be heavier than the one before. Men will progress by 10 pounds and the women by 5 pounds.
When the clock starts, both athletes can simultaneously load their bars.
Teams have 12 minutes for both athletes to complete their ladder. Athletes may use time to warm-up when the clock starts. Once an athlete is ready to attempt a lift, they must CLEARLY declare the weight they have on their bar to the judge before attempting the lift.
Each teammate can make as many attempts as they like in the time allotted. Only one teammate may be working at a time. Teammates can help one another load bars. Athletes may go back and forth with their attempts or an athlete can do multiple attempts in a row. It is up to the team on how they want to use their time. Once an athlete has declared their starting weight they can never decrease their weight. Athletes can only add weight to their bar or attempt the same weight if they failed an attempt.
Athletes will continue to add weight to their bar and attempt lifts. This will continue until athletes can no longer successfully complete the lift or time runs out. If one teammate is done, the other can keep going and the teammate that is done, can help their teammate load and unload the bar.
Because this event has Men and Women competing against one another, the men's score will be adjusted by .7%. We have done this in previous events and it has seemed to work well.
Example score:
Joe - 165, 175, 185, 195 (failed), 195, 205, 215 failed, 215 failed. Joe states that he is done.
Joe’s score is 648 pounds. 165+175+185+195+205 = 925 X .70 = 648 pounds rounded up
Please note that Joe was only credited with 5 lifts, he did not complete 6 lifts.
Julie - 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135. Time runs out.
Julie’s score is 735 pounds. 110+115+120+125+130+135 = 735 pounds
Julie received credit for her 6 heaviest lifts.
Final team score: 1,383 pounds
