Background

3rd class Petty Officer Ryan Patrick Comas, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, died by suicide on June 25, 2024. 

Born and raised in the Somerton section of Philadelphia, Comas graduated high school in 2017 with honors in both swimming and lacrosse. He loved working as a lifeguard and excelled in lifeguard competitions. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and graduated from training in 2019. He then served on the Coast Guard Cutter Dependable before graduating from Rescue Swimmer School and serving as a rescue swimmer in Kodiak, Alaska. 

Comas is survived by his parents Joseph and Bridget Comas; siblings Mary Kate, Joseph, Matthew, Megan, and Gavin; and grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
