Track to Rack Challenge
A $35 entry fee gets you into the competition. Once you have completed your challenge attempt, submit your scores and video evidence or judged score card.
CHALLENGE AND SCORING
Males and Females compete in two different divisions, $135 prize for top male and top female.
- 1600m Run into Max reps of Back Squat
- Each Successful Squat repetition completed deducts five seconds off your 1600m run time
- Lowest calculated time wins
- Tie Breaker: Body Weight
- Heavier body weight wins
- Back Squat weight will be at 50% of the athlete’s bodyweight rounded to the nearest 5lbs increment
- Time: Athletes have an 11-minute time cap to complete the 1600m run and max back squat repetitions.
- Athletes must show their bodyweight on the scale before beginning the challenge.
- Athletes can choose to complete the run outdoors and use a GPS monitor or complete the run on an assault runner.
Note: Athletes may make as many attempts during their challenge as they would like.
Athletes must have their score accepted by a judge, if no judge is present a video submission will be required. For video submissions there can be no pauses or breaks in the video, video must show the clock for the duration of the hang. Video needs to be reviewed by a judge for submission.

Start date and time: Sunday November 16th 2025 @12:00am
Close date and time: Saturday November 29th 2025 @11:59pm
FLOW:
- The challenge begins with the athlete stepping onto a scale, declaring their bodyweight and then loading a barbell to 50% of their bodyweight.
- When the athlete is ready, they will begin the 1600m run, either outdoors or on an assault runner
- When ready, start your GPS device and the gym timer at the same time and the 1600m run begins.
Device will need to record and show the distance travelled and the elapsed time - If on the Assault Runner start the gym timer as soon as the Runner starts.
- After completing the 1600m run, stop the GPS device/Assault runner and declare the time taken.
- At this time, the remainder of the 11:00 time clock will be used to accumulate as many repetitions as possible of the back squats at 50% of the athlete’s body weight.
- The squats do not need to be unbroken; the athlete can rest at any point by reracking the barbell.
- At 11:00 cap the total squat will be recorded.
- For every repetition completed, five seconds will be deducted from the mile time
- Winning score will be lowest total time calculated.
MOVEMENT STANDARDS:
Back Squat
- Barbell begins in the squat rack.
- The barbell must be unracked from the squat rack without assistance
- After unracking the bar, the athlete must step back to begin the squat
- The athlete must squat to a depth BELOW PARALLEL where the hip crease is clearly below the top of the knee with the barbell controlled in a back rack position
- High or Low Bar positions are both acceptable
- The athlete must then stand, without assistance, to a position where the knees and hips are fully extended with the barbell supported in the back rack position
Assault Runner
- Assault runner begins from the zeroed screen, with the meters and timer displaying zero.
- The athlete runs on the Assault runner until completion of 1600m.
- The athlete cannot touch the handrails at any point during the run.
- If the athlete does touch the railing the time will stop, and the run will need to be restarted.
Outdoor Run
- The use of a pre-distanced 1600m course or GPS tracking will be needed.
- The pre-distanced course must be verified by a judge, prior to starting.
- For the GPS tracking method, both the time and distance must be displayed and verify completion of 1600m before beginning the Back Squats.
PERMITTED EQUIPMENT:
- Gym Chalk
- Shoes must be worn.
- Knee/elbow sleeves
- Wrist Supports/wraps
- Weightlifting belts
NOT PERMITTED EQUIPMENT:
- Multiple layers of knee sleeves or knee wraps on top of each other
