About This Competition

"Where the North Crowns the Elite"

In 2026, Battle of the North returns – bigger than ever.
On Friday May 29, Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31, 2026, the ice hockey stadium in Kardinge (Groningen) will be transformed into the toughest CrossFit arena in the Benelux.

For three days, the best athletes in the region will battle for the title with a new experience: 

- An extra large competition floor
- Long, wide lanes for ladder workouts and big transitions
- 6 to 8 workouts for the finalists
- A packed stadium full of fans, lights, sound and atmosphere

Event Format
Battle of the North 2026 is a multi-day elite competition for both individuals and teams of 4.

Divisions – Individuals
- 48 Men (24 Elite / 24 RX)
- 48 Women (24 Elite / 24 RX)

Divisions – Teams of 4 (M/M/F/F)
48 Teams (24 Elite / 24 RX)

Final spots are earned through an online qualifier.

Online Qualifier
To earn your place on the floor in the Finals, you’ll compete in the online qualifier.

📅 Qualifier dates: January 31 08:00 PM (CET)  – March 1 08:00 PM (CET)

Qualifier Rules
The workouts need to be done individually and are the same for all divisions. So the teams each submit an individual qualifier workout, and these scores are added together.

The qualifier workouts will be released on 31st of January 08:00PM CET at Competition Corner. The online qualifier consists of three workouts per athlete in one time frame. All scores should be submitted via Competition Corner before Monday 1st of March 2025 08:00PM CET. 

Participating
Every athlete in the world is allowed to join the qualifier of the Battle of the North. Athletes younger than 18 need to show permission of their parents to join. There are multiple divisions in this edition:

There will not be a scaled version of the workouts.

Finals

Based on the online qualifier, the best athletes will be invited to the finals at 29th, 30th & 31th of May @ Kardinge Groningen.

All solo athletes will receive a T-Shirt, Personalized weightvest, Nametag & a cool goodiebag

All team athletes will receive a T-Shirt, Nametag & a cool goodiebag.

Refund Policy
To participate in the online qualifier and finals, athletes need to buy a ticket via Competition Corner. There is a no-refund policy for both tickets. If we need to cancel, all bought tickets minus already made costs will be refunded. If you are an athlete competing from outside The Netherlands, and you are not allowed to travel to the finals, we do not offer a refund.
