About This Competition

UG Games 2025 is upon us!

In its 12th year, we are thrilled to announce that the stunning Osler Bluff Ski Club in The Blue Mountains will play host to the 2025 UG Games. Expect an action packed weekend of functional fitness competition featuring four challenging and fun workouts. As always we'll look to feature our outdoor venues to provide a truly "outside the box" competition experience!

Event Highlights:

 Registration Details:

  • Registration opens on Feb 7th, 2025, and closes on June 12, 2025.
  • In an effort to keep athletes training for the unknown, workouts will be unveiled after registration closes, in the weeks leading up to the competition.
  • All athletes can expect 4 workouts on Saturday July 12th and should be prepared for the possibility of your first heat time starting at 9:00am.
  • UG branded shirt and socks and goodies for all participants.
  • Team Registration Price $695 + tax.

Timing & Scheduling: We deeply pride ourselves on running an "on-time" event, last year finishing the day not a minute late. We've also continued to speed up live leaderboard and podium announcement at the end of the day, to get everyone home at a reasonable time.

Heats will start at 8:30am and continue until 7:00pm. A typical day will have your team start and finish all 4 workouts within a 8.5 hour window. This gives most athletes roughly 2hrs 15 mins of recovery time from the end of one workout before the start of the next. During this time, you'll have the chance to recover, buy food, shop, spectate and warm up again.

Divisions & Workouts: Of the 4 workouts, each will bias individual, co-ed pairs, same sex pairs and full team capabilities. All workouts and heat schedule will be released after the event is sold out and all heats are set or at least 3 weeks prior the competition, so you can plan your weekend.

Please see our divisional suggestions on how to best select the right caliber of competition for your team or ask your coach for feedback.

For Spectators - It's Free! Join the excitement, bring your friends and family! Spectators enjoy FREE ACCESS to witness the incredible feats of fitness. Explore our fantastic vendors, indulge in shopping, savor delicious eats, and cheer for your favorite athletes. Between activities, set up tents or chairs on the hill to watch over the competition floor. The more spectators the better the athletes experience, which is why we've always run a free for spectators event.

Exclusive UG Food & Beverage Vendor: We're thrilled for the return of Road Runner Food Co in the Osler Lodge! They'll be fueling our athletes and spectators with a mouthwatering array of healthy and tasty food and beverage options. From morning coffee to celebratory beers, they'll have us covered!

Location & Parking:

  • Address: 795534 The Blue Mountains Clearview Townline, The Blue Mountains, ON L9Y 0R7
  • Parking: Free parking directly at UG Games 2025 homebase
  • If main Osler Bluff Ski Club lot is full, parking lot attendees will direct you to subsiquential overflow lots.

Important Notes:

Refund Policy: No refunds; please find replacements if needed. Purchasing comp corner insurance is available.

Team Changes: Team captains can login and modify their team roster. Please email robert@ugseries.com. Shirt sizes may not be guarenteed after June 12, 2025.

Homebox Declaration: Declare your home box during registration to help you gyms chances of winning the annual "Top Box" prize. As always 1 volunteer = 1 athlete registered, so you can support your gyms attendance as a non-competitor. Thanks to our incredible partner Supra Athletique, last year $5,000 in gear was handed out to the gyms that had supported us the most. You cannot declare your home box after June 12.

Weather Ready: This is a rain or shine event! Be prepared for any weather changes. We reserve the right to adjust the schedule or workouts due to unexpected weather events.

Get ready for a fitness extravaganza like no other. Save the date, spread the word, and gear up for an unforgettable UG Games experience at Osler Bluff Ski Club!

On ‘Go’ the heat will feature a mass start run, with all team members sprinting 200m. When all 4 members have ascended the 28m of elevation, they will begin a ‘rounds for time’ workout. The workout will feature four unique implements (Dumbbell, Sandbag, Kettlebell and Hybrid Sandbag). Each round will consist of synchro squats and step back lunges followed by individual box step overs. While one team member performs the step overs, other team members must hold their implement. Team members will shift one implement after each round and the final score will be recorded when each team member has completed a round at each implement. In the case of a tie, the tiebreak will be the time for all team members to complete the run.

On ‘Go’ the heat will feature a mass start run, with all team members traversing a 1km hill as fast as individually possible to The Reservoir. The first team member to ascend the 128m of elevation will begin the ‘Barbell Relay’ solo but will need their next teammate to arrive to cash them out. A synchro movement will take place at the end of each athletes’ complex to act as a handoff between team members. With all remaining time after the run, teams will accumulate reps of the complex until the 25 minute mark.

Barbell Relay Order:

M1, F1, M2, F2

or

F1, M1, F2, M2

*order determined by which athlete finishes the run first and sequence must be maintained through all rounds

Barbell Relay Example Flow:

M1              10 Shoulder to Overhead

M1 & F1     10 Deadlifts (synchro)

F1               10 Shoulder to Overhead

On GO the F/F pair will have 9 minutes to each find a max load in a Power Clean, Hang Squat Clean, Jerk complex. The pair will use the same bar as they work up to their max. In the same 9 minutes, the F/F pair will accumulate meters on the Rogue Echo Rower, interchanging as desired. The M/M pair will perform the same workout in a subsequent 9 minutes.

A team’s score will be the sum of all 4 athletes’ heaviest completed complex plus a rowing bonus where 50m rowed = 1lb applied to the team total. If a tie is present, the team with the heaviest cumulative weight lifted (before the rowing bonus is applied) will be seeded higher.

F1/F2 (0:00-9:00 minutes)

Max Load (Power Clean, Hang Squat Clean, Jerk Complex)
Accumulate metres on Echo Rower

RESET (9:00-11:00 minutes)

M1/M2 (11:00-20:00 minutes)

Max Load (Power Clean, Hang Squat Clean, Jerk Complex)
Accumulate metres on Echo Rower

Rowing Strategy

Rowing can take place continuously throughout the 9 minutes where one athlete is making their attempt and one athlete is rowing, or saved until an athlete has maxed out the complex, for a sprint row in any remaining time at the end.

Plate Changing

The pair “resting” can help load the bar for the “working” pair

Rowing Bonus

Every 50m rowed = 1lb added to the teams final score.

No partial reps for rowing meters, so scores rounded down to nearest 50m
