Workouts
5 Rounds - 2:00 on/:30 off
15 sync Burpee to target
In time remaining: Max rep Ground to Overhead
Weights for Ground to Overhead:
Round 1: 40/30kg
Round 2: 50kg/40kg
Round 3: 60kg/45kg
Round 4: 70kg/50kg
Round 5: 80kg/55kg
Workout Flow:
This event consists of 5 rounds, with each round lasting 2 minutes followed by a 30-second rest period. In each 2-minute "on" interval, teams will complete 15 synchronised burpees to target, and then in the remaining time, accumulate as many repetitions as possible of ground to overhead. Partners may split the ground to overhead reps as desired, with only one partner working at a time. The score for each round will be the total number of ground to overhead reps completed in that round. The overall score will be the sum of ground to overhead reps from all 5 rounds.
Movement Standards:
Synchronised Burpee to Target:
Both athletes must perform their burpees simultaneously. At the bottom of the burpee, both athletes' chests and hips must make contact with the ground at the same time. At the top of the burpee, both athletes must jump and touch a designated target (a gymnastics ring set at a fixed height) simultaneously. A rep is only counted if both athletes meet the bottom and top synchronised standards.
Ground to Overhead:
The barbell must start on the ground. The rep is completed when the barbell is moved from the ground to a position overhead with the hips, knees, and arms fully extended, and the barbell is directly over the middle of the body. Any method to get the barbell overhead is permitted (e.g., clean and jerk, snatch, clean and press). If the barbell is dropped from overhead, it must return to the ground before the next rep can begin. Only one partner may work on the ground to overhead at a time. Partners may switch at any point by tagging hands or by the non-working partner stepping back from the barbell. Barbell must be on the floor to change partners. Barbell must be fully locked out for the rep to count when the timer sounds.
Scaling and Qualification:
To qualify for the final round, teams must complete this event using the prescribed weights for all 5 rounds. Any team that scales the weights will have their score noted as Scaled for this event and will not be eligible for final round qualification.
3 rounds
500m Row / 400m Run (one row, one run)
30 Sync Hang DB Snatch, 22.5/15kg
30 Double DB Box Step Over (shared)
16min cap
Workout Flow:
This event is a 3-round workout for time, with a 16-minute time cap. In each round, one partner will complete a 500m row while the other partner completes a 400m run. The team decides which partner performs which cardio element in each round; however, both partners must complete at least one row and one run at some point during the three rounds. Once the cardio is complete, the team will move to 30 synchronised hang dumbbell snatches, followed by 30 double dumbbell box step-overs. Only one partner works on the box step-overs at a time. The team's score is the total time taken to complete all three rounds. If the time cap is reached, the score will be 16:00 plus a 1-second penalty for every rep not completed, or 1 second for every 125m Row/100m Run
Movement Standards:
500m Row / 400m Run:
Row: The athlete must complete 500 meters on the Concept2 rower. The monitor must be reset to zero at the start of each row. The athlete must remain seated on the rower until the monitor reads 500m.
Run: The athlete must complete 400 meters on the designated running course. The athlete must touch the designated turning points.
Both partners must complete their respective cardio elements before the team can move to the dumbbells. The team decides who rows and who runs for each round, but over the course of the three rounds, both partners must complete at least one row and one run. Neither athlete can start the next round of cardio until the final box step-over is completed from the previous round.
Synchronised Hang Dumbbell Snatch:
Both athletes must perform their snatch simultaneously. The dumbbells must be deadlifted into the start in the hang position (above the knee, below the hip) with both athletes fully extended before initiating their first rep. At the top, both dumbbells must be locked out overhead simultaneously, with hips, knees, and arms fully extended. There is no synchronisation required at the bottom of the rep. The athlete's feet must be in line (not staggered) when the dumbbells are locked out overhead.
Double Dumbbell Box Step Over:
This movement is shared between partners; only one partner works at a time. The athlete starts with two dumbbells (one in each hand) on one side of the box. Dumbbells must be held "farmers carry" style, down by the athlete's side. The athlete must step onto the box with both feet, ensuring both feet make contact with the top of the box. The athlete then steps over to the opposite side of the box, with both feet contacting the ground before starting the next rep. The athlete does not need to achieve full hip and knee extension at the top of the box (standing tall) before stepping down. Dumbbells must rest on the ground, NOT on top of the box. No jumping or hopping over the box is allowed. All divisions will use a 20-inch box.
Scaling and Qualification:
To qualify for the final round, teams must complete this event using the prescribed weights for the synchronised hang dumbbell snatches and double dumbbell box step-overs, and use the designated box heights. Any team that scales the weights or box heights will receive a Scaled score for this event and will not be eligible for final round qualification.

Workout Flow
Start Position: Both athletes begin under the rig.
Working Athlete: One athlete initiates the first movement.
Non-Working Athlete: While one athlete is working, their partner must stand on the designated "tag zone" (a small bumper plate on the floor between the rig and wall) away from the working area. Failure to do so will result in a no-rep for the working athlete.
Partner Change: Athletes may switch at any time. A switch is completed by a clear hand-to-hand tag between partners in the designated "tag zone". The new working athlete can only begin their reps after the tag is complete.
Movement Order: Movements must be completed in the order listed. Teams cannot move to the next movement until all prescribed reps for the current movement are completed.
Movement Standards
Wall Ball:
The athlete begins by picking up the ball and moving into a squat, a squat clean is permitted.
The athlete must squat below parallel (hip crease below the top of the knee).
The ball must be thrown to hit the designated target. A rep is counted when the center of the ball clearly makes contact with the target.
If the ball is not caught on the descent, it must be picked up from the ground for the next rep, it cannot be caught on the bounce.
Rx Men: 9kg ball / 10ft target
Rx Women: 6kg ball / 9ft target
Toes-to-Bar:
Each rep begins with the athlete hanging from the pull-up bar with arms fully extended and feet clearly passing behind the vertical plane of the bar.
Both feet must simultaneously make contact with the bar between the hands.
Scaling Option: Knee Raises, feet must clearly pass behind the vertical plane of the bar, and knees must rise above the hip crease.
Pull-up:
Each rep begins with the athlete hanging from the pull-up bar with arms fully extended.
At the top of the movement, the chin must clearly break the horizontal plane of the bar.
Kipping, butterfly, or strict pull-ups are all permitted.
Scaling Option: Jumping Pull-ups (box must be set so the athlete's arms are fully extended at the bottom, and the chin must clear the bar at the top with a controlled descent).
Chest-to-Bar Pull-up:
Each rep begins with the athlete hanging from the pull-up bar with arms fully extended.
At the top of the movement, the chest (any part of the sternum) must clearly make contact with the bar.
Kipping or butterfly pull-ups are permitted.
Scaling Option: Regular Pull-ups (chin over bar).
Bar Muscle-up:
Each rep begins with the athlete hanging from the bar with arms fully extended and feet off the ground.
A full "turnover" must be achieved, transitioning from below to above the bar with a clear press out at the elbows.
The movement finishes with the athlete in a support position above the bar, with elbows fully locked out.
Feet must not pass above the bar in the kipping movement. If athletes hands are lifted off the bar, they must drop from the bar before starting the next rep.
Scaling Option: Jumping Muscle-ups (box must be set allowing for a controlled jump to the support position)
General Rules:
All reps must be completed within the 15-minute time cap.
A judge will be present to ensure all movement standards are met.
The team's score is the total time taken to complete all reps. If the time cap is reached, the score will be 15:00 plus a 1-second penalty for every rep not completed.
Qualification for Finals:
To qualify for the final round of the Battlers Cup, teams must complete 'The Grid' workout as written, adhering strictly to the Rx movement standards and weights for each movement. Any scaling of movements or deviation from Rx weights for either partner will result in the team score being denoted as Scaled for this event, and they will not be eligible for final round qualification, regardless of their time or completion. Only teams that complete the workout 100% Rx will be considered for the finals leaderboard.
